Those with * Family history of genito- urinary cancers * Work and usage of Dyes - dyeing industry, other chemical exposures * Smoking - active & passive * Chronic Bladder Inflammation * Previous history of cancer are all prone to get bladder cancer. Current lifestyle and environmental agents are numerous in inducing cancer growths too. What are the warning signs of bladder cancer? * Blood in Urine * Difficulty to pass urine * Urgency * Increased frequency of urination * Nocturia - sleep disturbance and night time urination In some patients, there may be a total absence of symptoms and the cancer may be picked up in a routine health check. what are the types of Bladder Cancer? The commonest types of bladder cancer is Urothelial carcinoma. Urothelial carcinoma, previously called transitional cell carcinoma, occurs in the cells that line the inside of the bladder. Urothelial cells expand when your bladder is full and contract when your bladder is empty. The other types include Small Cell Carcinoma, Adenocarcinoma, etc. Knowing the type alone is not enough to plan treatment. It is also important to stage and grade the Bladder Cancer. Staging is important to fix the plan of treatment. Invasive Bladder Cancer or Non - invasive Bladder Cancer: If the Cancer is non muscle invasive, then an endoscopic tumor removal followed by intravesical therapy helps treat the bladder cancer. If invasive , radical surgery will be needed. Robotic Surgery for Bladder Cancer: Robotic surgery is an advanced option to help with Bladder cancer surgeries. To do a radical surgery in a robot assisted manner or an open surgery is entirely the choice of the operating Surgeon.
