The commonest types of bladder cancer is Urothelial carcinoma. Urothelial carcinoma, previously called transitional cell carcinoma, occurs in the cells that line the inside of the bladder. Urothelial cells expand when your bladder is full and contract when your bladder is empty. The other types include Small Cell Carcinoma, Adenocarcinoma, etc. Knowing the type alone is not enough to plan treatment. It is also important to stage and grade the Bladder Cancer. Staging is important to fix the plan of treatment. Invasive Bladder Cancer or Non - invasive Bladder Cancer: If the Cancer is non muscle invasive, then an endoscopic tumor removal followed by intravesical therapy helps treat the bladder cancer.
